Pollution  like untreated sewage and urban runoff, which can make even seemingly pristine water unsafe to use.

There are two basic methods of rainwater harvesting. · Storage of roof rainwater in tanks. · Recharge to groundwater for future consumption through, · Bore-well recharge, · Percolation pit, · Trenches, · Ring wells. 

Rainwater that falls on your roof is essentially free. All it takes is a sustainable system in place to harvest it into a cistern or tank for later use. Rainwater harvesting can provide children around the world with an opportunity to experience first hand what filtering and purifying water look like at home by watching the method that their parents are using. 

This whole process could then inspire them later in life to improve on the rainwater system at home or form little rainwater companies/community efforts in their local area to get other people involved. For communities who rely on imported water, collecting rainwater that falls naturally in the community can reduce the need for industrialized methods of sanitation/purification which can involve chemicals and produce waste products; this will also reduce costs too!
